Hello! I am Casey Jackson a Licensed Professional Counselor at Aspire. I earned an undergraduate in psychology through University of Missouri Columbia/Kansas City in 2005 and a Masters in science in Counseling psychology from Avila in 2016. I am excited to be a part of Aspire to provide both online and in person sessions at the Lees Summit office location for anxiety, depression, performance anxiety, PTSD, Borderline PDO, and most other diagnoses. I have a belief that diagnoses do not define anyone and know change is not easy but that there is light on the other side. Relief can be in your future. Thank you for looking at my bio and considering me.

Clinical Experience As a Professional Counselor

I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years transitioning from a Behavioral Health Tech to a Community Case manager, and for the last 6 years a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have experience working with school systems to help with 504 behavioral plans and IEP’s. I have worked with ages 7- 60+ and with many different diagnoses including Autism and with athletes on performance anxiety.

The majority of my career as a Licensed therapist has been in an acute residential setting working with teenagers who have had very pervasive and high levels of trauma in their lives. I have also done trauma work with adults on current and past situations that they feel are still affecting their functioning in life. I am passionate about my job as a counselor and enjoy having past clients from my hospital and past outpatient work contact me with success stories.

Clinical Approach and Modalities in Counseling

My clinical approach to counseling definitely starts with the importance of a person centered approach. Your goals and feelings are extremely important. The therapeutic relationship between therapist and client should be equal and I believe is the basis for healthy change. Your feelings about me as your counselor are important and as a practice I work to regularly ask your opinions about my work with you and appreciate even difficult feedback. I believe modeling the ability to change is extremely important

in helping to guide someone through change. I believe in the importance of learning communication skills with self and others in therapy and the relief being assertive with yourself and others can bring to life and relationships. EMDR is my specialty however I also incorporate CBT, DBT, Sensorimotor, Family systems theory, ARC (Attachment, Self regulation and Competency) and am newly trained in Neurofeedback as well. I also believe in using research based therapy modalities. I look forward to you helping me to understand your goals in therapy and guiding you towards the relief you seek from symptoms regardless diagnoses or level of trauma.

On a personal note, I am a single father with a 6 year old daughter and an 11 year old son who are my world. We have 3 cats, Stormy, Butterscotch, and Luna. We also have a chinchilla named Silas, and a Springer Spaniel puppy named Hunter. I love to spend time in the country and outdoors with my family in my free time. For self-care I enjoy working out, running, landscaping, building projects, and my favorite is going all out on my outside Halloween and Christmas lighting and decorations!
