It’s hard to be a human sometimes.

It can be so difficult juggling our many responsibilities, pressures, and obstacles. Maybe we’re so busy taking care of all the other things that life throws at us that our needs go unmet, which can leave us feeling exhausted, depressed, or anxious—or most likely all of the above. When we are ready, it can be difficult to look for help, so I appreciate that you are here taking the first step.

About Me

I am a graduate of Webster University, and have been a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri since 2015. I attended Truman State University as an undergrad, studying communication arts and psychology.

I have over twelve years of experience in the mental health field working in a variety of settings, from non-profit organizations to facilitating outpatient mental health groups in a hospital. I have worked with clients from the ages of 8 to 65, including families, couples, college students, and children in the foster care system.

Clinical Experience As a Professional Counselor

Typically, I have met with clients reporting depression, anxiety, self-esteem, or life transitions as a primary issue, but each have also worked with patients experiencing mood disorders, family or relationship difficulties, communication or trust issues, or negative body image.  However, each patient is deserving of the chance to work through life’s obstacles at their own pace. I feel that the client is an expert in their own life and experiences, and probably has a lot to teach me!

Finding a counselor that is a good “fit” for you can be difficult, whether you’ve been to therapy before or just jumping into it for the first time. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you!

Clinical Approach in Counseling

My approach is typically person-centered, but I use a mix of narrative, cognitive behavioral techniques, dialectical behavioral skills, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness. I have also received training in EMDR and trauma-focused therapy. I strive to maintain empathy, humor (when needed!) and openness in my sessions. The relationship between counselor and patient is so important. I want to work WITH you by listening, empowering, and problem-solving whenever possible.
