On evidence-based practice — we mean it.

A lot of practices say they use evidence-based approaches. We want to be specific about what that means here, because it's one of the things that attracts and keeps our best clinicians.

Evidence-based treatment at Aspire means using research-supported interventions — the kind backed by peer-reviewed literature, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled trials. For trauma, that looks like EMDR or CPT. For anxiety, it often means exposure-based treatment. For OCD, it means ERP — not just empathy and coping skills, as valuable as those are.

That said, we're not robots. We bring our own personalities, training histories, and clinical instincts into every session. Being evidence-based doesn't mean following a script. It means starting with what we know works, then meeting the individual client exactly where they are.

If that's how you already think about clinical work — or the kind of clinician you're actively working to become — you'll fit right in.

What this Role Looks Like

We’re hiring for full time positions in both Lee’s Summit and Columbia, MO. In-person is required at least 3 days per week (preferably 4-5) at your primary location. Telehealth available to supplement your caseload.

Day-to-day, you'll:

  • Provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents with trauma, anxiety, OCD, and related concerns

  • Use the evidence-based modalities you're already trained in — and keep building your skills (we invest in training)

  • Track client outcomes using Blueprint, our measurement-based care platform — it actually informs your clinical work

  • Conduct free 30-minute consultations with prospective clients, paid at your admin rate

  • Attend a weekly 30-minute team check-in, Mondays 11–11:30 AM via Zoom

  • Consult with colleagues on complex cases — formally in group, and informally whenever you need it

  • Document in our EHR/

What you won't have to do:

  • Fight insurance companies

  • Find your own clients — we handle marketing and intake

  • Navigate an unsupportive or chaotic work environment

  • Figure out the business side of private practice on your own

You'll thrive here if...

  • You hold an active LPC license in Missouri — this is what we're prioritizing at both locations right now. LCSW and LMFT also welcome.

  • You're fully trained in at least one evidence-based modality: EMDR, CPT, IFS, ERP, ACT, or TF-CBT

  • You want to keep growing clinically and genuinely enjoy consultation

  • You communicate directly and handle feedback with openness and curiosity

  • You take ownership of your clinical outcomes — your first instinct when a client drops off isn't to blame the intake process, it's to ask what you can adjust

  • You can see clients in-person and have availability during some high-demand hours — evenings (4 PM+), early mornings (7–9 AM), or weekends

  • You want this practice specifically, not just any private practice job

Aspire Counseling probably isn't the right fit if:

  • You describe your approach primarily as "eclectic" without grounding in specific evidence-based methods

  • You prefer to practice without team involvement or peer consultation

  • You're mainly looking to escape your current situation rather than move toward something you're genuinely excited about

We're a small team and culture matters here. Everyone's presence is felt, and we protect what we've built.

Compensation & Benefits

We get it. Money matters. You truly care about helping people. But it’s easier to do that when you make enough money that you’re able to fully focus at work.

Average Annual salary range: $68,000–$102,000

Your rate is based on your location, experience, evidence-based training, and caseload. Lee's Summit positions compensate slightly higher.

Plus a sign-on bonus while your caseload builds

Most clinicians reach a full caseload within 90-120 days. To support that ramp-up period, we offer a small sign on bonus:

  • $1,500 your first full month

  • $1,000 your second month

  • $500 your third month

That's $3,000 total to ease the transition — because we know the first few months look different than month six.

Types of Pay

In reality, you are paid several different ways. First and most importantly, you’re fairly compensated for each client you see. Additionally, you recieve:

  • $15 bonus for each new client you onboard

  • $30/month technology stipend

  • Paid admin time for meetings, trainings, and practice-related activities

Full-time benefits:

  • Flexible scheduling — you set your hours within client demand

  • PTO that accrues based on sessions seen

  • 6 paid holidays

  • Simple IRA with up to 3% employer match

  • Health insurance paid at 50% for you and 15% for your spouse if applicable

  • Up to $500/year in continuing education reimbursement

  • Paid training in evidence-based modalities — CPT within your first two weeks; if you're already CPT-trained, we'll discuss what makes sense to add next

  • Regular structured clinical consultation and informal peer support

The thing most therapists don't realize until they're here: A consistent, full caseload of motivated, private-pay clients — coming to you through a well-run intake process — is worth more than almost any benefit line item. We invest heavily in marketing and have a strong referral reputation in both communities. You won't be scrambling for clients.

What Our Team Has to Say

“Aspire Counseling is different from other places I’ve worked because co-workers truly care about one another and can be relied upon for support both personally and professionally”

THE HIRING PROCESS

If you’re looking for a job right now, you know that hiring process varies greatly from place to place. Ideally, our whole process can take a couple of weeks. We try to communicate with you throughout the process and make it as quick as possible. But also, we want to be intentional and make sure that you’re a good fit for our team AND we’re a good fit for what you’re looking for.

Here's exactly how this works.

We know the job search can feel opaque, so here's what to expect — start to finish.

Step 1 — You apply Submit your resume and cover letter through the link below. (More on what to include in a moment.) Our hiring team takes a couple of days to review every application carefully. You'll hear from us either way.

Step 2 — Phone screening with our Client Care team This is a real conversation with the same people who would be matching you with clients if you join us. They know our clients well and can answer a lot of your questions about what day-to-day really looks like.

Step 3 — Interview with clinical leadership You'll meet with our Clinical Director and/or Senior Clinical Team Lead for a deeper conversation about your clinical approach, experience, and fit for the role.

Step 4 — References + office tour We'll reach out to three references (at least one past supervisor) and invite you to visit the office you'd primarily work from. You'll likely get to meet one or two teammates while you're there.

One note about our Lee's Summit location: we're moving to a new space in April 2026, so you'd be seeing our current office — not the new one. We're excited about the new space and happy to tell you about it.

Step 5 — Offer We move quickly for the right candidate.

A tip that genuinely speeds things up: Give your references a heads-up that we'll be calling. It's the most common thing that slows the process on our end. We ask for three, with at least one being a past clinical supervisor.

What to include in your cover letter

We read every cover letter. Please address both of these:

  1. Your evidence-based training — which modalities are you fully trained in, and how do you actually use them in your clinical work? Do you follow full protocols, integrate elements, or some combination?

  2. Why Aspire specifically — what about this practice resonates with where you are in your career right now?

Applications without a cover letter addressing both questions won't be reviewed.

Aspire Counseling is actively hiring licensed professional counselors (LPC) in Columbia and Lee's Summit, Missouri. We are currently prioritizing candidates with an active LPC license in Missouri for full-time positions at both locations. We also welcome applications from LCSWs, LMFTs, and psychologists with experience in trauma therapy, anxiety treatment, and OCD treatment. Our clinicians use evidence-based approaches including EMDR, CPT, ERP, IFS, ACT, and TF-CBT. If you're searching for LPC jobs in Missouri, therapist jobs in Columbia MO, counselor jobs in Lee's Summit MO, or full-time private practice positions in the Kansas City area or mid-Missouri — we'd love to hear from you.
