Meet Janet Heyer, a Master of Social Work and Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Are you feeling lost after a divorce?
Are you overwhelmed by work?
Are you trying to redefine yourself and put your life back together?
Are you adjusting to retirement?
I can help you re-invent yourself, get unstuck and move forward. You lose a piece of yourself when you get a divorce, children move out of the home, retire and begun frustrated by work. I understand this pain. I will listen to you, provide compassion, and pay attention to your needs. I am primarily a counselor for women who feel lost, stuck or are in a life transition. I specialize in working with women who are at a crossroad and don’t know where to turn.
You want to feel connected. You are looking for a sense of purpose and meaning. You worry about being accepted, secure and relevant. Some specific issues that may bring women to my office include death or grief, divorce, life transitions, job related stress or just feeling lost. I focus on getting to know you and building a strong therapeutic connection. My purpose is to help you feel connected so you can open up and be vulnerable about all of the emotions you are experiencing. I am nonjudgmental and want my work with you to feel safe. While I have training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Suicide Prevention and Intervention and general therapy techniques, I develop a unique treatment plan based on your specific goals and needs. I will listen to you, help you think about things in a different way and partner with you on your journey toward peace.
I became interested in the mental health field while a teenager when I had the opportunity to visit a mental health facility, and talk with some of the clients there. I have now been working in the field of mental health for 25 years.
As a counselor for women, I believe in the power of counseling. A sense of safety and connection is possible after divorce. A sense of purpose is possible after retirement. It's possible to feel less anxious or stressed about work. Contact me today to get started.
I also have enjoy providing supervision to Social Workers wanting to improve their clinical skills and achieve their LCSW.
During my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, including my German Shepard, my friends, and working out. I believe it is important to feel balanced in life which includes the mind, body, and soul. If you want to feel more at peace and heal from whatever is troubling you, I look forward to hearing from you.
