In-Person and Online Therapy in Missouri

Please note that Jasmine is no longer accepting clients at Aspire Counseling as she prepares to move out of state. She will no longer be able to see counseling clients in the state of Missouri. While we will miss her greatly, we invite you to look at our other Missouri mental health therapists in both our Lee’s Summit & Columbia offices as well as Online in Missouri.

Jasmine Jaquess

Hi, I’m Jasmine Jaquess. I’m a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in training at Aspire Counseling. As of December 9, 2022, I have completed my education at Northwestern University. I am a recent graduate of a therapy program, equipped with up-to-date knowledge and approaches that can help you get the most out of your therapy journey.

My age does not limit my expertise; I understand and empathize with your experiences, while also valuing those who have come before me. Rest assured I will do my best to provide you with the highest quality of care. I am excited and eager to support you on your therapy journey.

I currently work with people dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, boundaries, assertiveness, emotional eating, mild eating disorders/body image, and health coaching in my clinical work under the supervision of Megan Pruett.

Who do I work with?

My goal with therapy is to help you find solutions that work in order for you to live your life on your terms. If you’re stuck, feeling overwhelmed, and need a change, I am here to help you create a path that helps you move forward. I work with college students, athletes, professionals, people in the midst of life transitions, and individuals of color. If you are struggling to find the right support, I am here to help. This is a safe and culturally humble space for you to understand your past in order to cultivate a future that is meaningful to you and falls in line with your values.

About Me

As a counselor in training, I believe that counseling is an important part of whole-body health. When you’re sick you go to a doctor, if a belief is holding you back, you go to a counselor. Therapy isn’t about me sitting here telling you how to fix yourself. It's about providing you a space to be fully yourself and together we will approach your conflicts head-on. Therapy is a place to gain helpful skills and talk through tough issues. It is always helpful to have a secondary objective look from a counselor's perspective to see how your situation could be approached differently. Ultimately, I believe that you’re your own expert. I can suggest a plan for you, and it may not make sense for your life. That is why in time we will get to know each other and collaborate on a plan for you. I am your guide, you’re the teacher.

At the end of the day, I want you to recognize that change is possible, but it takes time. If you’re willing to put in the work, you will go far. Know that therapy isn’t a place to always feel good, sometimes we may have tough conversations, and I may push you to dig deeper, but know that when you’re able to recognize different perspectives to solve your problems, you will take these skills further into the future.

No Matter Your Identity, I am Here to Support You!

I am here to offer a safe and healthy space for individuals who have felt unseen and marginalized by others. As a BIPOC neurodiverse individual, I wear a lot of hats and I know that can be challenging to navigate amongst the day-to-day struggles. Know that in this space I am here to go wherever you need in order to understand your identity, your roles in life, life transitions, and so much more. If you are having a hard time trying to find a therapist who can connect with you, let’s talk, we may be a great fit!

Counseling Experience

I have a bachelor’s in exercise science and a minor in psychology from Truman State University. I  have always been interested in helping people and holistic wellness. I  believe that physical and nutritional health, while important, is only one part of the puzzle to wellness. I have plenty of life experience to share as a multiracial BIPOC woman. I am adopted, and non-neurotypical. I personally understand the hardships of being a woman of color and navigating a world that prefers neurotypical people. I have experience with anxiety, depression, emotional eating, high achievers, perfectionism, and body image issues as well. I am here to help you find ways to overcome your mental health struggles, as you develop your identity and figure out how to move through various life transitions. I hope you will allow me to take this journey with you. No matter who you are, I am here to help you and hold space for you!

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy is a judgment-free zone, come as you are!

I believe that talk therapy can be very helpful in overcoming many issues and addressing the roots of what you’re dealing with. I take an integrative approach and will individualize treatment to your needs. I will also be working very closely with my supervisor and school as I gain further experience working with clients and treatment planning. Therefore, you will have multiple people making sure you’re getting the best support possible.
