  • Family conflict or major life changes like divorce or moving

  • Trauma or difficult experiences that feel too big to handle

  • College prep stress about getting into UMKC, Missouri State, or other colleges you're hoping to attend

  • Depression or anxiety that's making everything feel harder than it should be

Evidence-Based Teen Therapy That Gets Results

We get it. Teen years in Lee's Summit can be incredibly challenging. Between academic pressure, social expectations, and figuring out who you are, it's no wonder so many teens and families are struggling.

What sets Aspire Counseling apart from other Lee's Summit therapy practices is our commitment to evidence-based treatments—therapy approaches that have been scientifically proven to work for teens. While other practices might use generic talk therapy, we use specific, research-backed methods like TF-CBT, EMDR, DBT-informed techniques, and CBT that are specifically designed for teen brains and teen challenges.

Why Evidence-Based Treatment Matters for Teens

Research from the National Institute of Mental Health shows that specific therapeutic approaches work better for teens than general counseling. At our Lee's Summit office, all our therapists are trained in multiple evidence-based treatments because we believe you deserve therapy that's proven to work, not just someone to listen.

We're conveniently located in Lee's Summit with easy access from Blue Springs, Liberty, Raymore, and surrounding areas. Our therapists understand local school systems, community pressures, and the unique challenges facing teens in our area.

FAQs About Teen Counseling

Other Mental Health Services & Counseling Support for Your Whole Family in Missouri

We know life is complicated and you may be struggling with more than one issue. Maybe more than one member of your family needs some support. Our online therapists offer other services than teen therapy. And often, it can be helpful for more than one member of the family to be seen at our practice as our clinicians are able to work together while still completely respecting your privacy. It’s not uncommon for different children in the family to be seen by different therapists (it’s typically best if they each have their own) and one or both parents also to have their own safe space. While each person has “their” therapist to speak to, your therapists are able to consult one another occasionally if that’s beneficial to your family. That said, we take client privacy extremely seriously and that’s part of the reason we strongly prefer two members of the same family not see the same therapist when it is practical to avoid that. Additionally, we can offer family counseling sessions when appropriate.

Because each therapist at Aspire Counseling specializes in something slightly different, our therapists are able to offer a wide range of mental health services at our counseling office in Columbia, our Lee’s Summit counseling office or online anywhere in Missouri. Some of our specialties include depression counseling, trauma therapy/PTSD treatmentcounseling for caregiver stress, anxiety treatment, LGBTQ affirming counseling, support during chronic illness and more! We’re here to help support teenagers, their parents & the entire family system.
